So, I’ve never been very good at relaxing. At least, I haven’t been since I was a young child and I’m not even sure I was very good at it then.
My best “relaxation” is more about escapism than genuine relaxation. I like to immerse myself in stories—novels, television shows, movies, daydreaming—and I’ve gotten rather good at it. This works within the moment, but I’m not sure it has staying power, at least not as far as getting my body to relax is concerned.
On the other hand, hot baths help my muscles to relax and the herbal bath foams I get help my mind to relax. But they’re rather contingent on our hot water supply and other issues of convenience.
So, I put it out to all of you: How do you relax?
